Description

The ENS Scholarship Committe One has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors in Manatee County, Florida who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Manatee County 1ST Round Scholarship must: *Be current high school seniors attending school in Manatee County, Florida * Plan to study a STEM, fiance, business, or technical major (medical majors are NOT eligible) * Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year * Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent – unweighted scale) * ENS employees and their immediate family members (spouses or dependents) are ineligible.

Criteria

Selection of Recipients Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of: *Academic performance *Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities *Work experience *A statement of educational and career goals and objectives *Unusual personal or family circumstances Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Education Network Society committee. In no instance does any officer or employee of ENS play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following: A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
  • Student name
  • School Name
  • Grades
  • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.

Awards

Up to two awards will be granted.
  • Two awards of $2,500 to students attending a college or technical school located in Manatee County, Florida.
  • Awards are renewable up to 3 years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment in a STEM, financial, business, or technical major.
  • One award of $2,500 per student attending a two-year, four-year, or vocational-technical school.
  • If a student is awarded at the 2-year, 4-year, or technical school level, they must attend this school type or will no longer be eligible to receive the award.
  • Awards are renewable for one year on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment in a STEM major.
Awards are for undergraduate study only. Recipients may be offered internships during pursuit of their degree and/or career opportunities with the sponsor upon graduation.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May. Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to. Please make sure to add the notification email as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarship

Education Network Society processes scholarship payments on behalf of Southeast Alumni Group. *Payment is made in early August.
